Lodalis

Lodalis is more potent than other bile acid resins.
Consider it if patients can't take a statin for mild to moderately elevated cholesterol or combine it with a statin.
Caution that Lodalis can increase triglycerides about 10%. Avoid using it if patients have triglyceride levels over 3.4mmol/L.
3 tabs BID or 6 tabs once a day.
With a meal to reduce stomach upset.
To avoid interference with the absorption of other drugs, have patients take if 4 hours AFTER glyburide, levothyroxine, phenytoin, cyclosporine and oral contraceptives.
